VSO (Voluntary Service Overseas) is the world’s leading independent international development organisation that works through volunteers to fight poverty in developing countries. VSO tackles poverty by using the skills, commitment and enthusiasm of individuals from around the world. For 50 years, the charity has been recruiting volunteers aged between 18 and 75 to live and work in the heart of local communities.

Challenge

The charity needed a new cost-effective server, storage and backup solution to run in-house applications that support around 900 staff in 35 locations worldwide. VSO wanted to rationalise their ageing physical server estate, since they were relocating their head office to smaller premises in Kingston upon Thames, with a reduced data centre. Value for money was a primary factor in choosing their new IT solution

  • Reduced seven racks of equipment down to two
  • Freeing up valuable space & IT resources
