Welcome to Cyber Clues

Welcome to Cyber Clues. We invite you to take part in the mystery as a super-sleuth of the modern-day office.

Cyber Clues throws you into an online world, not too dissimilar to your own, placing you as the detective of a cyber-crime committed in your (online) office.

Think you have what it takes to find the remedy and save the company? Join now and find out!

Let's Begin!

Objective

In order to win the game, you must work out the answer to:

  1. What has infected the systems?
  2. Where did it originally hit the company?
  3. Who did it hit first?

You'll have to start with what has infected the systems - time is ticking and you need to know what you're dealing with.

Employees start bringing you information and you manage to narrow it down to 6 possible types of malware.

  • Ransomware – ransomware demands a ransom while blocking or leaking access to your data or network. It’s the most common form of attack and can affect any size of organisation.

  •  Rootkit – Rootkit is a set of software tools that enable an unauthorised user to gain control of a computer system without being detected.
  • DDoS – also known as Distributed Denial of Service. DDoS is an attempt to make an online service unavailable by overwhelming and flooding it with traffic from multiple sources.
  • Security bug – a security bug introduces security vulnerabilities by compromising one or more of: authentication of users and other entities.
  • Trojan horse - often disguised as legitimate software, users are tricked by social engineering into loading and executing the malware onto their system. Once activated, it’s straight access for the cyber-criminals into the system!
  • Worm – worms are a parasite. A malicious software program whose primary function is to infect other computers while remaining active on infected systems.

Meet the characters...

You know none of your colleagues would have purposely done anything, but wherever is infected needs to be quarantined and you need to know what it is, in order to find the remedy.

The possible suspects include:

  • Clicky Cameron - He works in a whirlwind, especially at year end. He's a thorough chap and always opens every attachment, clicks every link, explores every website.
  • Busy Bimela - She missed her security training as she was in and out of meetings at the time, she's snowed under at the moment!
  • Postpone Pascal - His precision, values and morals are part of the reason he was hired. He likes his computer just how it is - these new updates can wait as they always seem to change everything!
  • Tuneful Tara - The USB of her favourite music comes to work with her and some weeks has the whole office listening! The USB sometimes slows her computer down, so she resorts to streaming.
  • Forgetful Fabio - He's the go to for passwords as he writes everything down - his memory isn't quite as good as it used to be!
  • Whimsical Wilma - Happy to answer questions and provide information to anyone who needs it - internally and externally. Nobody would ever want to get in trouble...would they?

What are you waiting for?

Don't miss out on the chance to win a holiday of a lifetime!
