Meet SysGroup

Hi, my name is…

Alicia Wills

She is a Cybersecurity Graduate Apprentice here at SysGroup. Passionate about problem solving and security strategy, she helps organisations strengthen their security posture and resilience.

What was your very first job?

My first job was working at Jupiter Artland, an outdoor sculpture park just outside of Edinburgh.

If you could swap jobs with anyone for a day, who would it be?

A paramedic.

If you had to give a TED Talk on something random, what would it be?

The power of a small act.

What’s one thing you’re looking forward to learning here?

How cyber security helps protect different clients and being part of improving that security. Also learning how AI is changing different industries and keeping up to date as technology keeps evolving.

If you could invent one office perk, what would it be?

A short movement break as we’re sat a lot, like walking/stretching or something we can do all together and could be turned into a challenge of who can do the most reps or hold in a position the longest.

What’s the most exciting part of your role at SysGroup?

Being able to learn things in real time, I’ve just come from school so having many ‘firsts’, clients calls, real life projects and proper responsibility. It’s exciting to feel like I’m contributing while building my skills and getting more into cyber security.

When you’re not working, how do you like to spend your time?

I spend a lot of time with my family and friends, walking the dog and going to the gym. I also attend university 1 day a week as part of my apprenticeship so also studying for exams.

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever received (work or life)?

You don’t have to have it all figured out.

Quick Fire

Beverage of choice:  Appletiser.

Favourite Holiday Destination? Amsterdam

Dog or Cat? Dog

One word that describes you best? Curious
