Title: Social Media Executive

Location: Liverpool

Hours: 37.5 hours / week  

Reporting to: Chief Marketing Officer

Role Description

The vacancy is for the role of Social Media Executive within the Marketing Team of SysGroup. Its primary function is to promote brand awareness, sentiment and grow the following of SysGroup on all Social Media, ultimately to assist with the generation of new business opportunities.

Role duties:

  • Create and develop social media presence on new and emerging social media platforms
    • Manage SysGroup’s social media channels, including LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook and other relevant platforms
    • Create dynamic written, photographic and video content, working with SysGroup’s in-house design team to develop and create impactful social media posts
  • Work within the Marketing Team on campaigns, projects, events, and demand generation to support with social media messaging
    • Using an automated marketing platform to schedule social media and integrate it with marketing campaigns
    • Analyse and report audience information, demographics and success of existing social media projects
  • Enables social media presence and capability across SysGroup
    • Work with the People and Culture Team to promote SysGroup as an employer, promote our values and culture, as well as support recruitment
    • Support the SysGroup executive and senior leadership teams with their social media presence and promotion of SysGroup, its campaigns and activities
    • Support the Chief Executive to promote SysGroup’s investor relations strategy and corporate activities as well as ensuring engagement with followers on current industry and market driven topics


Key Responsibilities:

  • Manages social media communications, responding to commentators and followers in an appropriate and timely manner, and coordinating responses from SysGroup
  • Uses timelines and scheduled content to create a consistent stream of new content for audience interaction while analysing, managing, and altering schedules where necessary to optimise engagement
  • Proposes new ideas and concepts for social media content to increase positive brand awareness measured by followers, responses and sentiment
  • Optimises content scheduling to support search engine optimization (SEO), pay-per-click (PPC) paid social (for example in LinkedIn) as well as other digital promotions
  • Creates content that promotes audience interaction – focusing on SysGroup’s target market, to increase audience presence on company sites, and encourages audience participation
  • Works with marketing campaign managers to coordinate campaigns with social media strategy, tracking and optimising the performance of the social component of those campaigns
  • Maintenance and adoption of SysGroup social media guidelines encouraging and guiding SysGroup employees with their own social activity on behalf of SysGroup
  • Compliance with social platform rules as well as broader GDPR legislation

Experience and qualifications:

  • Track record of impactful social media campaigns essential
  • Marketing or business qualifications to degree level but successful track record is what really counts
  • Awareness of the IT Sector preferable
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, Premier Pro) or equivalent digital media editing tools preferable

Key skills:

  • Passion for social media and proficiency with major social media platforms and social media management tools
  • Strong communication skills and compelling copy writing, condensing key messaging into impactful social media communications
  • Ability to understand historical, current, and future trends in the digital content and social media space
  • Thorough working knowledge and understanding of key social media platforms particularly LinkedIn
    • Excellent working knowledge of social media platforms, scheduling as well as listening and sentiment analysis tools including digital and paid promotional activity
    • Ability to interpret and report of platform analytics to generate insight to improve campaign and social activity
  • Ability to generate a range of initial ideas quickly for subsequent refinement, potentially through several revisions – speed of early development essential
  • Ability to manage time and focus across multiple projects as well as proactive planning and reporting of activity

  • Ability to take onboard ideas, suggestions, sketches and developing into final form communications
  • Resilience and a positive response to criticism – with the willingness to pursue a different track if necessary
  • Ability to communicate with technical experts and interpret their messaging as simple compelling social media
