We are looking for a knowledgeable Consultant with experience of delivering projects for a range of customers.

Job Description

SysGroup has a thriving Consultancy practice that provides support and advice to a number of high-profile customers. Our current consultants also have the skill set to deliver on high profile projects. Our aim is to continue to grow our Consultancy to support our customers as they continue their IT transformation journey. We are at a point where we want to develop out current approach. We have defined a SysGroup Consultancy Framework and a series of Consultancy offerings have been defined and are being shared with our customer set and being marketed to new customers. We also have a set of customers to whom we provide practical, high-level support to help them deliver their projects.

To be successful in this role you will need to have a broad understanding of the technologies that SysGroup deploy and manage. You will have an outward looking view and be curious about new technologies. You will always seek to understand the customers viewpoint and have the ability to provide ideas and solutions. You will work closely with the SysGroup Technical Architect team to define reference architectures for new solutions that are of interest and excitement to our customer set.

You will have experience of consulting and delivering projects for a range of customers including the delivery and support of projects in Azure and ideally AWS.

Key Skills

  • Good technical understanding of Cloud technologies and the ability to gain the confidence of customers and internal resources
  • Knowledge of Azure Services with experience of working to deliver Consultancy and practical implementations
  • Good understanding of M365 and associated technologies like InTune
  • Good understanding of Hyperconverged infrastructures
  • Good understanding of how an Enterprise environment provides multiple services to a range of customers
  • Experience in PCI environments would be an advantage
  • In addition you will be comfortable with creating documentation that summarises a customer position and then shares a roadmap of options for the customer to review.

As we build our team you will be happy to work in our Newport office so we can move rapidly as we build out our capabilities. There is of course flexibility in the role with travel to customers included and the flexibility for home working.

About You

Ideal candidates for our new roles will live within commuting distance of our recently refurbished Newport office which sits on the same campus as the Vantage Data Centre – a critical datacentre node in the digital operational capacity of western Europe and in which SysGroup hosts and manages significant infrastructure for a range of customers.

We are looking for people who want to make a name for themselves in the IT industry and want to be part of the growth journey of SysGroup. You must be comfortable with working at pace and dealing with the inevitable ambiguity that comes with rapid growth and development. Finding ways to get things done is paramount. We have five core company values that underpin all we do:

  • Love what you do
  • Own it
  • Work smart and together
  • Delight your customer
  • Be Bold

To be part of our journey for all our new roles you will need to understand the principles that underpin Cloud – We often talk about the NIST principles as the foundation for this understanding. Furthermore, you will understand what an Enterprise environment can offer to organisations as they develop their IT capability.

Our Tech Ops team is critical for us. You will be joining a team of dedicated and hardworking individuals who care deeply about what they do and who care deeply about giving our customers the best possible service. We often go the extra mile to deliver the necessary service level and want to work alongside people who will also go that extra mile. As part of this approach to our work, self-awareness and vulnerability are also key traits we look for in the people in our teams. We need people who can build the right level of work life balance by understanding the cadence of projects and other activities so that our projects are delivered on time coupled with that healthy work life balance.

In addition to a very competitive base salary (which will be dependent on experience) we also offer:

  • 25 days holiday (plus bank holidays)
  • An additional half a day holiday on your birthday
  • Salary Sacrifice Pension scheme
  • Employee discounts
  • Cash plan medical care
  • PMI
  • Quarterly prize draw
